Looking to buy real estate in the are of Whitestone or Malba Queens? Need help to buy, sell, or view homes for sale in Whitestone, NY? I'm the agent who can help you.Whitestone Real Estate: Settled before the Revolutionary War, this area was reportedly named for a large white rock that stood near the shore. The area was home of Francis Lewis, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. When Dewitt Clinton of Maspeth was governor of New York State, the area called itself Clintonville, but went back to the old name when a post office was established in 1854. At the same time, a tinware factory established in the village turned it into a thriving manufacturing town. Waterfront pavilions provided entertainment. The manufacturing aspect is now gone and Prohibition killed the pavilions, but many single-family homes and small apartment houses remain.
